✌🏼Abir - Onboarding 👩🏽💼
My reaction emoji might seem a bit random but this whole week I've felt like such a professional! Before, I'd only ever felt like a student since I hadn't had a chance to work in my field, so this week's been a great experience. I was super excited when I was sent the onboarding material to jump right in and get working! The onboarding material helped loads in giving me a clearer idea of Future of Engagement as an organization and the type of work I can expect to be doing. I also found the video discussing the potential donors to be a helpful introduction to the non-profit sector, which I haven't interacted with as much as the political sphere. My first task was to put together a presentation discussing the ongoing projects at Future of Engagement, this was a fantastic first task as it gave me the chance to familiarize myself with Notion, as well as understand all the things happening at Future of Engagement right now and seamlessly fit into the existing workflow. I really appreciated the way in which the orientation was set up, and being asked about my personal story, it made me feel a personal connection to the organization and that I was not only seen as an employee, but as a whole person (although it's surprisingly hard to tell your entire life story on the spot!).
